Ruth T. Kessler’s collection of poetry, The Country of Elsewheres, is over 10 years in the making and explores themes of displacement, immigration, exile, place, and memory.

She wanted a cover that was representative of these things—something that captured the heaviness of the content without being dark itself. It needed to feel organic, figurative, subtle, but eye-catching and memorable.
